Hello! I’m Isa and I’m on a mission to start a quiet revolution: one garden, one story, one connection at a time.
The natural world has always been one of my greatest teachers. From the moment I first heard the melodic song of a blackbird as a child, I was captivated. Every encounter with nature, whether it was a ladybird teaching me the ripple effects of my actions or an unforgettable moment with a mouse in a garden shed, deepened my understanding and love for the world around me.
I believe we are never truly alone when we learn to connect with the natural world. This connection has shaped my life – as a gardener, a grower, and a firm believer in living simply and sustainably.
Growing food, keeping chickens, preserving the harvest, and chopping firewood for warmth brings me immense joy and pride. Stocking my pantry with groceries from my own garden is a simple pleasure that I love to share with others.
Hi, I’m Stephen
As the son of a refugee fleeing the occupation of Hungary in the 1950s, I have lived in New York State, and Alaska, eventually settling in North Wales, after meeting my wife.
My Christian faith is essential to me, and I am an active member of my church. I have a background in engineering and have turned my hand to tree surveying.
I really enjoy watching The King’s Garden flourish and bring joy and learning to a wide variety of people who might not otherwise come to know about the wonders of the natural world around us.
Hi, I’m Non.
I’m a former teacher, lecturer, writer, editor, and translator, and have experience in project creation and management. Having been born and bred in Wales, I enjoy all things Welsh!
Sharing Isa’s love of nature, and as a keen gardener myself, it wasn’t difficult to accept the invitation to become a director of The King’s Garden. It’s a pleasure to meet on a regular basis to discuss the venture, to appreciate the joy it brings to people’s lives, and, of course, to experience Isa’s infectious enthusiasm.
I really appreciate being part of a professional team that promotes a positive relationship with nature, that is committed to protecting it, and one that helps those who might not be able to access it reap the many benefits of spending time in engaging with it in creative ways.
Hi, I’m Craig
I was born in Canada, raised in Asia and have been grafted into life in Wales since 2005. I’m a consultant anaesthesiologist in Intensive Care.
As a father, doctor, and citizen, I am passionate about spreading green skills, learning to steward our environment, and improving our food resilience.
Within the NHS and community groups, I have been involved with project design, development, and governance. Within a healthcare setting, it is easy to see firsthand the benefits of reconnecting with nature. It adds value, improving the health & well-being of the whole person through all stages of life.
Supporting the work of The King's Garden just makes sense, and working with them to further their mission to inspire, educate, and reconnect people with nature is a pleasure.
Hi, I'm Vicky.
I am a qualified Teacher with 30 years of experience working in Primary Schools and Early Years Education settings in a range of roles, including teaching, learning support, consultancy, and inspection. I relocated to North Wales in August 2021, with the aim of exploring the beautiful countryside, mountains, and coast on offer here.
Personally, I gain an amazing sense of well-being when I'm surrounded by nature and this is something that I'm keen to help others to experience. Working with The King's Garden, it is my joy to see the enthusiasm, wonder and positive engagement that experiencing and learning about our natural world inspires in both children and adults alike.
Hi, I’m Jayne
I’m a former nurse, specialising in psychiatry, and have also worked as an administrative support within the Social Services.
I first met Isa some 15 years ago when we both worked for a local charity. Her enthusiasm and passion for the natural world were obvious after only the briefest of conversations, and it was a seamless progression for me to offer my administrative experience to The King’s Garden. It is a privilege to volunteer my time as a minute-taker for the regular board meetings since its inception.
